Wishaw & District Housing
The transfer of engagements from Wishaw and District Housing Association to Trust Housing Association took place on 1 December 2019 following registration of the transfer by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). This means that Trust are now responsible for the homes and services that were provided previously by Wishaw and District Housing Association. The transfer will involve Trust delivering faster and increased investment in tenants’ homes and the environment. Trust will also implement a rent freeze for the first three years followed by a further five-year rent guarantee for tenants. Services will continue to be delivered locally by the popular front-line staff team and a new local Area Committee will oversee deliver of the transfer promises and shape local services. Trust will also deliver new homes on the Main Street, Wishaw site that has long been a local blight, as well as investigating opportunities to build other new affordable homes for the many people in housing need in the local area.
About the Wishaw & District Transfer
The partnership process is a ‘transfer of engagements’. This means that Wishaw & District Housing Association (WDHA) ceased to trade on 1st December and Trust is now responsible for delivering the homes and services previously provided by WDHA. Services will continue to be delivered by the local staff team from the office in Wishaw, branded as ‘Wishaw & District Housing’
The partnership combines the strengths, capabilities and traditions of both organisations to create a stronger organisation that is even better able to meet the current and future challenges and customer expectations by investing in services, homes, staff and technology.
Trust was unanimously selected as WDHAs preferred partner in December 2018 and the two organisations started working together in January 2019 with the ambitious and challenging aim of completing the transfer by 1st December 2019. The WDHA tenants gave us a strong mandate to take the partnership forward in September 2019 when they resoundingly voted 97.3% in favour of the transfer to Trust.
The partnership with Wishaw & District is great news for all tenants and staff of the combined organisation and marks a major milestone in our Bright Future strategy. Growth – when it is the right fit for Trust – is a critical element of Bright Future. The partnership has seen Trust grow by just over 1,000 to 3,648 homes and sees a number of very positive and significant changes.
