Who's responsible for repairs in my home?
Your tenancy agreement outlines who is responsible for which repairs. If we’re responsible you won’t need to pay for the cost of the repair. You're responsible for the cost of repairs that are not our responsibility or any as a result of property damage caused through misuse or neglect, criminal damage or where you have made property alterations. See rechargeable repairs for more information.
Always check your tenancy agreement but see examples of responsibilities below.
Emergency repairs
Even where the repair is your responsibility, we’ll always carry out emergency repairs. In this event, you will generally be expected to cover the cost of the work. We will take account of exceptional circumstances.
You should arrange adequate contents insurance as soon as you move in, so that you're personal belongings are insured in the events such as fire, water damage burst pipes or other situations that may cause them to become damaged.
